Despite being out for quite some time on other systems, the Switch port of Dead by Daylight will drop on Sept 24. This isn’t a moment too soon, because the port will drop just in time for the next big DLC pack — and this one is sure to draw in a lot of new players. A new pack based on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things will release sometime this September.
The DLC pack will include the Demogorgon as a playable killer and both Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington as playable survivors. Unlike previous survivors based on existing franchises, Nancy and Steve actually resemble Natalia Dyer and Joe Keery respectively. A new stage based on the underground of the Hawkins National Laboratory will also be added to the game.
In case you’ve been living under a rock…
Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s most popular titles nowadays and arguably the most popular show currently airing in America. Set in the mid-1980s, Stranger Things is a horror series about the otherworldly occurrences plaguing a small Indiana town. The show pulls from a wide net of 1980s nostalgia, with plot points referencing anything from A Nightmare on Elm Street to The Goonies to Stephen King’s greatest hits. Previously, Stranger Things crossed over with Fortnite and had two video games of its own. The first is a mobile-exclusive game set between the first and second seasons. The second is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up based on season three.
Dead by Daylight, meanwhile, is an asymmetrical horror game developed by Behavior Interactive. Four players must team up to escape the clutches of the fifth player, a killer hell-bent on hanging the other players from hooks and sacrificing them to the mysterious Entity. Previous DLC packs included Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, and Michael Meyers. Arguably, the only horror icons left untouched are Jason Voorhees and Chucky. However, the former already has an asymmetrical horror game and the later might be a bit too short. Personally, though, I’m still holding out for a Leprechaun-slash-Jennifer Aniston DLC pack.
