Nintendo’s brief but impactful Indie World showcase today revealed some fun and utterly random stuff. Not so random was the inclusion of a new Streets of Rage 4 trailer from Dotemu, Guard Crush Games, and Lizardcube. This one reveals the return of Adam Hunter, who was a playable character in the original Streets of Rage. His brother, Skate, basically replaced him in the next couple games, and Streets of Rage 4 had already previously revealed Cherry Hunter, Adam’s daughter, as a playable character. The reveal that Adam himself is back makes this game a delightful family affair.
The new trailer shows Adam Hunter in action as a musclebound dude who really knows how to kick people in the head or beat them with a baseball bat. Wholesome family fun!
This title was first announced in August of last year as a more than big surprise by Dotemu. Since then, we’ve received a steady flow of new trailers revealing the playable characters and their styles of beating up everybody on every street. If you look closely at the promotional art though, you will see there is still one character silhouette, implying at least one more playable character is still yet to be announced.
Streets of Rage 4 will release in the first half of 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
