There are two points I hope we can agree on: Wii U was underrated. And Wii U is extremely dead. But that isn’t stopping one game from making the trek into the wasteland! Publisher Red Art Games and developer Andrade Games are bringing SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition digitally to Wii U in North America and Europe with a release date of July 2, 2021. It will retail for $9.99 / €9,99 / £8.99.
We first detailed this title back in March, when it was announced for an April digital release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Store. It also received a limited physical release on Switch and PlayStation 4, and copies of the Switch version specifically are still available at the time of writing. It would be great if SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition could receive a physical release on Wii U too, but it’s more than understandable why that is not happening.
SturmFront is a twin-stick top-down bullet hell shooter, and this new version revamps the original arcade experience with “more content, enhanced gameplay, improved graphics, and more blood.” The story involves a post-apocalyptic world that clearly exists just to give you a reason to shoot things and be shot by things. That’s good enough.
In any case, if you’ve been itching for a reason to turn on your Wii U to play something other than Metroid, then check out SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition next month.
