Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury overview trailer Snapshot Mode camera Plessie details Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury overview trailer

Hot off of yesterday’s trailer, Nintendo has released a Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury overview trailer that explains in much greater detail many of the things we saw yesterday. It describes Lake Lapcat, a set of islands in a large lake that is just full of cats or cat-like entities. You’d think a kingdom of cats would be more welcoming than this one, which harbors a furious Bowser.

In Bowser’s Fury, you’ll team up with unlikely ally Bowser Jr. That means Bowser’s even pissed off his son then, who evidently is willing to switch sides to defeat his father. In gameplay terms, Bowser Jr. may be player-controlled to enable two-player for Bowser’s Fury. If you go it alone, he’ll still be hanging around with his giant paintbrush, defeating enemies and revealing hidden puzzles.

Fury Bowser himself, meanwhile, will occasionally awaken and unleash a ton of danger on the land with spike attacks and lasers that you’ll have to avoid. You just have to wait for him to cool down in these cases, and then you can get back to collecting Cat Shines to unlock the Giga Bell, which will give you the power to transform into a huge cat and defeat Fury Bowser.

The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury overview trailer makes apparent that water will be a substantial part of the new mode. For that, Plessie returns from the 3D World main mode, providing Mario with an organic speedboat for traversal. This time out, Plessie can be used on land too, helpful for gliding across surfaces. There are plenty of ways to get around in Bowser’s Fury then.

The rest of the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury overview trailer discusses the minor additions coming for the base game. There’s a photo mode called Snapshot Mode that contains some neat filters, and the video also goes over the game’s newly added online multiplayer functionality. Plus, we now know that using Cat Mario amiibo will unlock the invincible White Cat Mario, whereas the Cat Peach amiibo will summon a random power-up.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury releases Feb. 12 on Nintendo Switch.
