Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury sales are evidently quite powerful, as it is the fastest-selling game in 2021 so far in the U.K. This was revealed in the latest U.K. physical games charts, as provided by Gfk data and relayed by GamesIndustry.biz. The publication has stated that the Nintendo Switch version’s launch is almost three times larger than that of the original Wii U game. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is currently sitting at the #1 spot for sales. In comparison, when 3D World debuted on Wii U in 2013, the game launched at the #14 ranking, owing largely to Wii U’s tiny attach rate compared to that of Switch.
The game is also the third largest Mario platformer launch on Switch, being behind Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D All-Stars. 3D World + Bowser’s Fury’s launch sales are furthermore 2.6 times larger than those of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe. Although the game is ranked in third place, the launch sales are nearly a third smaller than those of Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
