Switch sales Japan Super Mario Maker 2 The Messenger

Though it released on June 28th, three days was all it took for Super Mario Maker 2 to become the month’s best-selling game in the United States. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, which I loved, owned the number two spot. This data comes from last month’s just-released NPD data. Four other Nintendo games were in the top twenty for the month: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at number six, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at number nine, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at number 13, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at 17, and Super Mario Party at 19. The full United States top twenty is shown below.

In the top ten best-sellers year-to-date, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Nintendo’s sole representative at number six. Mortal Kombat 11 is 2019’s best-selling game thus far. Three days was enough for Super Mario Maker 2 to win the month, but not enough for it to enter the top ten on the year–we will have to wait until July’s NPD data to see if it can crack into that list.

In the last twelve months, meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes the crown. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is once again the sole Nintendo representative, but it places a bit higher on the list at number four. Super Mario Maker 2 obviously did not make this list–it would have been a very, very impressive three days of sales if it had.
