Super Mario World map Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is helping keep millions of gamers sane in quarantine. One of the best features, unlocked after making some serious progress, is the ability to terraform your island. This freedom has allowed creative players to recreate maps from popular games, like A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, and Pokémon. Today we have another fan build to share, courtesy of Ciro Aversano, and it’s Super Mario World on SNES!

GameXplain takes a tour

After releasing the short reveal video above, Ciro invited Andrew from GameXplain to take a more in-depth tour. In this second video, Ciro walks Andre through each area, explaining the inspiration behind the various designs. These explanations are accompanied by some great comparison shots that help drive the connections home. All of the castles, bridges, ghost houses, switches, and other iconic locations are all represented well.

Dedication and inspiration

It’s really impressive what a dedicated Nintendo fan can do in Animal Crossing. This build took around three days, with Ciro working in shifts from around 9:00 in the morning to around 4:30 in the afternoon.  Ciro also revealed that this Super Mario world map was inspired by the previous story about A Link to the Past‘s Hyrule being recreated.  First Nintendo inspired fans, and now the fans are inspiring each other. You love to see it.
