You, me, and everybody’s grandparents know that Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan will be the most awesome thing in the world. It’s beyond debate. And we recently covered the opening of the official website for the theme park, which provided additional details, such as the delicious food park-goers will be able to enjoy. However, one peculiarity seemed to slip through in the website’s design: A Mario fan art render was used in the Super Nintendo World website.
Twitter user uJidow has pointed out that an old Mario fan art render created by the user is being used on the website as part of its loading screen.

What likely happened is that the site’s web designer grabbed the image off of Google presuming it was official since it’s of such high quality. It’s a pretty innocent mistake, all things considered, especially when you consider an official Mario render exists that is almost identical to the fan art render accidentally used for the Super Nintendo World site. Take a look at the fan (left) and official (right) renders below.
Ideally, the Super Nintendo World website will update to swap out the fan art for the official art. We’ll just have to wait and see.
