Super Robot Wars 30 DLC adds Sakura Wars for the first time on consoles

We got a first look at what’s coming to Super Robot Wars 30 as DLC, and the first wave will include Sakura Wars for the first time on an SRW console game. Bandai Namco shared what else is coming to the mecha strategy game as DLC and season pass in a recent presentation.

While Sakura Wars had appeared in the Super Robot Wars X-Omega mobile game, this will mark the first time it appears in a main console game for the mecha crossover series. Considering that the Japanese titles of Super Robot Taisen and Sakura Taisen were similar in name and gameplay, it’s something that both developers had considered in the past, but it never came to fruition until now.

Here’s a quote about the crossover from Sakura Wars series director Takaharu Tera from Sega:

It’s been 19 years since I had a conversation with Mr. Takanobu because we share a similar name. Since then, I’ve always envisioned and dreamed of having Sakura Wars in Super Robot Wars, and I’m thrilled that my dream has finally come true with Super Robot Wars 30. The robots that have appeared in Sakura Wars, such as Kobu and STAR, are small robots, but they possess the same level of combat power, fervor, and somewhat bizarre attacks as Mazinger and Gundam Master. I hope you’ll be able to use them as part of your team when you play!

The Sakura Wars units will join Super Robot Wars as part of DLC #1. Both DLC #1 and #2 will be available in the season pass, which includes the following:

  • DLC #1 – 9 additional playable units, including 2 from Super Robot Wars OG, 13 additional Area Missions.
  • DLC #2 – 9 additional playable units, including 2 from Super Robot Wars OG, 13 additional Area Missions.
  • Early Access: DLC #1 & #2 – This unlocks DLC #1 and #2 content two days before they are available for sale.
  • Season Pass Special Mission (1) – Rewards 150,000 credits, 1,500 PP, 7,500 MxP, and the SP Regen and Dash Skill Programs.
  • Season Pass Special Mission (2) – Rewards Assault Adapter, Sniper Kit S, SP Getter, High-Performance Radar, and Mega Booster Power Parts.
