After last night’s surprise not-a-Direct revealed that Joker and version 3.0 would drop in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate today, many of us have spent the past 24 hours twiddling our thumbs in anticipation of the return of stage builder and, more importantly, the roster’s next big addition. Well, untangle yourself and grab your Switch, because version 3.0 is live now.
It’s felt like a long, long wait for Joker to finally show up. Even after his shocking announcement at The Game Awards, we knew it’d be a while since he was behind Piranha Plant, who in turn was still about two months out. However, all of that ends right here–to all of those Joker-mains-in-waiting (myself among them, see ya Cloud)–your time is now.
I know many of us will also be checking out Version 3.0’s other nice surprise–stage builder. The mode almost feels unnecessary given the current game’s stage roster now sitting at a hearty 104, but hey, the more the merrier. There is also a new video editing feature, among a couple of other tidbits. If you’re curious about fighter adjustments, you can find those here. For patch notes, check out this link.
Now, we can drive ourselves insane waiting for the next DLC character reveal. In the meantime, enjoy Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s new character, stage builder, and everything else that comes with version 3.0. The next few days will be fun for the Smash community while we learn both how to play Joker and how to take him on.
