The Missing

It won’t be too much longer before we get to jump into another weird world by video game developer genius Swery65. His new game, The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories, is little more than a week away. What a mouthful of a title, huh? Swery likes being different and I’m sure the title will be normal in comparison to what awaits us in his latest story.  Gameplay wise, The Missing is a puzzle platformer with the twist being that the main character can die in horrible ways but always come back. And sometimes she will be cut into pieces and you can control her limbs (remind anyone of NeverDead or am I the only one that remembers that game?).

Yeah, it’s weird. How about you just check out this launch trailer and see what it’s like for yourself?

Does that help any? Probably not, especially if you have never played one of Swery’s games. Which is understandable, this is the first one to hit a Nintendo system. Even I don’t know what The Missing is really about and I’ve read everything Swery has said about it (in one interview he called it a superhero story, what the heck?). But that’s part of the joy of the man and his creations. You never know what you are getting. Besides, somewhere, a reference or feeling that calls back to Twin Peaks. Ever since his first cult hit Deadly Premonition he has kind of been forever linked to that 90’s classic TV show. Deadly Premonition was pretty much Twin Peaks: The Game and it’s as amazing as that sounds. I highly suggest you check it out.

Or, make The Missing your first Swery joint. I can’t guarantee it will be the imperfect masterpiece that Deadly Premonition turned out being but I know it will be one heck of a ride. The Missing hits the Switch eShop on October 11, 2018.
