Don’t call it a comeback, because Nintendo has been riding this roller coaster of highs and lows for decades. But according to a short interview with Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa in Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, the Nintendo Switch is seeing the fastest software sales in Nintendo history. That is an incredible statement considering what a sales powerhouse the Wii was.
Furukawa states that Switch software sales ramped up in particular this past mid-November, correlating with the holiday season and the launch of Pokémon: Let’s Go. He also says in the interview that he hopes to make smartphone gaming into a “pillar” of earnings, meaning he wants to make mobile gaming into a major driver of revenue for Nintendo.
