Pokemon Day mythical Pokemon sword and shield

Pokémon Red and Blue made their debut on the original Game Boy on February 27, 1996. As a result, that day is now celebrated each year as Pokémon Day. It’s a good opportunity to celebrate the beloved franchise, and Game Freak often drops some juicy news around that time. That trend will continue this year, as The Pokémon Company has confirmed several celebratory events, including the reveal of a new mythical Pokémon for Sword and Shield.

All of this Pokémon Day news comes from the official Japanese website for Pokémon. In addition to the new mythical Pokémon, Sword and Shield will also receive a new Max Raid Battle event. Meanwhile, Pokémon GO is also getting a special event of some kind. Unfortunately, we don’t have any details on that yet. Finally, we’ll also be receiving a new update on Pokémon Masters.

The Pokémon Company has also revealed that the new mythical Pokémon will star in the upcoming movie. Pokémon The Movie: Coco is set to hit theaters in Japan on July 10. We’ve only seen a brief teaser for the film so far, but it revolves around a child living in the wild among monsters. Perhaps we’ll find out more on Pokémon Day.
