Taito has announced in a video that a new Puzzle Bobble (also known as Bust a Move) game is in development, and best of all, it is currently being made for consoles. The announcement comes from an official Taito news video that also gives us a first look at the new game.
While the tile-matching puzzle game series Puzzle Bobble has been around since its original 1994 arcade game, the main character Bub, also known as the cute Bubble Dragon “Bubblun,” is celebrating his 35th anniversary this year. Bub first appeared in the 1986 arcade game Bubble Bobble. Taito decided that it was time to announce a new Puzzle Bobble game for consoles to commemorate the occasion.
The above is a look at a sample image of the new game. Director Tsuyoshi Tozaki couldn’t share any further details in the video, but he mentioned that it would feature the simple gameplay that the series is known for, so anyone can pick it up and play with ease. The developers are also taking notes from Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, which allowed players to have fun with friends and family.
We didn’t get any other info other than the above screenshot, but it appears that Taito wants to focus on multiplayer gameplay. Taito didn’t confirm any specific platforms, but it’s almost a given that it’ll come to Nintendo Switch based on the comments about Bubble Bobble 4 Friends.
