The next “Mothership” Tales of game in Bandai Namco’s Tales of Arise will release tomorrow, and series producer Yusuke Tomizawa is already thinking about the next remake and remaster.
Tomizawa hinted at what’s coming in an interview with 4Gamer. Here’s our translation of the snippet from the interview:
4Gamer: We’re looking forward to the next Tales of game. It took five years for the release of Arise, but can you tell us about the release pace of new titles moving forward?
Yusuke Tomizawa: I understand the demand for wanting to enjoy the games on consoles, so I’d like to keep releasing software continuously. However, if we were to do only that, we’d eventually run out of content, so I’m thinking of putting together a smartphone app to keep the service going. I can’t get into specifics at the present stage, but I’m thinking of responding to the demand for remakes and remasters. It wouldn’t be like our brand to not do anything until the release of the next new game after Tales of Arise. It is also part of the Tales of charm as a character brand to have fans enjoy things like the Tales of Festival and video works between titles.
As mentioned in the interview, it’s been five years since the release of the previous Mothership title, Tales of Berseria, in 2016. The last remaster was Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in January 2019. While the Switch will miss out on the launch of Tales of Arise, there’s a good chance it will get the next Tales of remake or remaster next.
Tales of Arise will release for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on September 10, 2021.
