Back in May, publisher Outright Games and developer PHL Collective announced four-player co-op adventure platformer The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and now it has a new gameplay trailer. The trailer offers glimpses of various levels like The Gruesome Fun Kitchen, The Kooky Graveyard, The Treacherous Tuneful Music Room, and The Laboratory, and some glimpses of various minigames are included as well. PR also describes the graphics as “spooktacular,” which is probably overselling it as far as made-up exclamatory words go, but the game doesn’t look hideous.
The perfunctory premise for all the gameplay in The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem is that Wednesday, Pugsley, Gomez, and Morticia explore their own mansion and “solve puzzles to save the mansion from a hair-raising unwelcome visitor.” Each character has individual special abilities, such as Gomez’s Mazurka Saber and Wednesday’s pet octopus Socrates. Otherwise, this sounds like a pretty standard adventure platformer, the latest in a parade of kid-friendly games of vacillating quality from Outright Games, which includes The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom and Hotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures.
Let us know if you see promise in the gameplay of The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem or if it just looks like any other cash-in tie-in property to you.
