The Last Campfire from No Man’s Sky developer hits Switch this summer

During today’s Indie World showcase, a number of upcoming indie games for Nintendo Switch were revealed. Among those games was The Last Campfire from Hello Games, developer of No Man’s Sky. The new title will be coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2020. The news came alongside a brand new trailer for the game, featuring a wonderful backing track.

The Last Campfire‘s core team is made up of the same developers who created LostWinds for Wii with Frontier Developments. An update on the game was provided to Eurogamer earlier today where a representative explained, “It’s an adventure game where you play as Ember, trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home. At its heart, it is the story of rekindling hope in an otherwise hopeless world.”

The game’s visuals are gorgeous, but still familiar to anyone who has played No Man’s Sky. The Last Campfire sounds as if it is a big departure from the space exploration MMO that has been Hello Games’ core focus for a number of years now. Given how passionately the team worked on that game, this new one should be just as stunning when it launches. Hopefully it won’t have the same teething problems that Hello Games’ last game did.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
