Atomic Cartoons, publisher Outright Games, and developer Stage Clear Studios have announced a June 4, 2021 release date for The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The Last Kids on Earth is a series of illustrated novels about zombies and the end of the world that is somehow kid-friendly, and in 2019 it received a Netflix cartoon. Now, the adventures of Jack, Quint, June, and Dirk will continue in video game form, and there is upward of four-player co-op. At launch there will only be couch co-op, but online co-op will come soon after launch.
The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom sees the team exploring Wakefield, fighting zombies, and searching for the missing pieces of the Staff of Doom. The ultimate goal is to stop Malondre, the Queen of the Slime Monsters, from summoning Rezzoch, the Ancient Destroyer of Worlds.
Outright Games very much has an MO at this point of acquiring licenses and pumping out multiplayer games of vacillating quality, especially for games that cater to children. In the past year, it has brought the likes of Transformers: Battlegrounds, Zoids Wild: Blast Unleashed, and Ben 10: Power Trip to Switch. Come its release date in June, hopefully The Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom will satisfy its younger fandom.
