Falcom dipped their toes in the water with Switch ports by dropping their acclaimed action game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA on the Nintendo Switch last year. Now, publisher NIS America and Japanese developers Falcom are partnering up once again to bring another hit to the hybrid Nintendo console. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch in spring 2020.

Released overseas earlier this year on Oct. 22, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 was originally only available on PlayStation 4. It’s the third entry in the Trails of Cold Steel series, itself being a sub-series within the massive Legend of Heroes franchise that Falcom is known for. The first game in the series focused on a group of new students at a military training school who quickly get enveloped into a massive civil war full of conflicting factions and secret agents.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 picks up a couple of years after the end of this civil war, with our protagonists now much older and off on their own separate journeys. As the new story picks up steam and starts developing, characters and elements from various other Legend of Heroes series end up playing a big role in the narrative, making this game a huge treat for diehard fans of the franchise.

American fans will also be able to pick up a special Extracurricular Edition of the game. Along with the base game, it includes a 20-page artbook and a reversible cover. For the Trails of Cold Steel 3 fan with deeper pockets, there’s also the Thors Academy Edition. It packs in everything that the Extracurricular Edition contains, on top of a steelbook case, a game soundtrack, postcards, and a plushie of everyone’s favorite Falcom mascot, Mishy.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 is set to release in spring 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
