The Nintendo Switch version of Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV will arrive next month in Japan, just before the West gets it this April. Nippon Ichi Software, who is publishing the Falcom-developed RPG in Japan, shared a new introduction trailer for the Switch port.
The trailer starts with an introduction of the main characters. We have Rean Schwarzer, Juna Crawford, Kurt Vander, Altina Orion, Musse Egret, and Ash Carbide. We also get a quick look at familiar faces in Crow Armbrust, Alisa Reinford, Emma Millstein, Eliot Craig, Machias Regnitz, Laura S. Arseid, Jusis Albarea, Gaius Worzel, Fie Claussell, and Sara Valestin. In addition to all of the characters mentioned, Trails of Cold Steel IV also features several characters from past Trails games.
The game systems aspect of the trailer begin with a look at the basics of battle, starting with field encounters. The AT (Action Time) Battle system is essentially the Active Time Battle system from Final Fantasy games, but there are more combat strategies with features like Link Attack. The trailer also shows flashy abilities known as Crafts and the Arts system similar to Final Fantasy VII‘s Materia.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV launches for the Nintendo Switch in Japan on March 18, 2021. It will arrive in North America and Europe on April 9, 2021. It will arrive on PC via Steam and GOG in 2021. Trails of Cold Steel IV is currently available for PlayStation 4.
