Looking at accessibility in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s gigantic roster has very few shortcomings, but it is comparatively lacking when it comes to The Legend of Zelda. The celebratory fighter boasts only six characters from what is one of Nintendo’s flagship franchises, and here’s the kicker: two of those characters are Zelda and three of them are Link. There is so much more to the series beyond the Triforce trio–just look at how many playable characters there are in Hyrule Warriors. Sooner or later, someone new from this series has got to make it into Super Smash Bros. Who would you pick?

There are lots of tempting choices–Skull Kid could be much more than an assist trophy, one of the champions from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could work out, or they could grab another villain like Ghirahim or Yuga. Personally, I’d most like to see Skull Kid get an admittedly unprecedented upgrade from assist trophy to full fighter. He’d bolster the roster with his uniquely creepy flair, we’d get more Majora’s Mask music to come with him, and his moon-shattering final smash would be a no brainer. I don’t see it ever happening, but plausibility is not a prerequisite for our answers to this question.

Who from The Legend of Zelda would you like to see join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? The series could definitely use some more representation, and there are certainly more than enough personable cast members to choose from. Let us know your pick in the comments.
