The Nintendo Switch has been purring like a kitten since it first launched nearly three years ago. Month after month, the console has been showing a healthy rate of growth all over the world. The trend has not slowed down yet, as the new report from the NPD shows that it once again took the top spot for the month of October 2019.
Mat Piscatella, a well-known analyst from the NPD shared a lot of details, but here are a few highlights.
While overall spending on hardware has decreased compared to last year October, the Switch still maintains its high rate of sales as the best-selling system on the market throughout 2019. It was also the only system to see gains. It should be noted that with the Switch Lite having launched in the second half of September, October ended up being the first full month of fully combined Switch and Switch Lite sales.
US NPD HW – Nintendo Switch was again the best-selling hardware platform of October and remains the best-selling platform of 2019.

By this time next year, we should be at least one or two months away from the launch of the PS5 from Sony, and Project Scarlett from Microsoft. So, PS4 and Xbox One sales will only continue to nosedive from hear on out. Meanwhile, that gives Nintendo one more year to rack up as many sales as possible, as the launch of two new systems is bound to finally create a disturbance in the Switch’s sales trends. But, who knows, just as Nintendo decided to drop the Switch Lite this year, there’s still a possibility that a rumored Switch Pro of sorts may also see the light of day.
