Through the magazine License! Global, The Pokemon Company International has revealed that the Pokemon brand brought in $2.1 Billion of revenue in 2015. That’s accounting for all Pokemon merchandise – video games, anime, trading cards, and “licensed life style products”. This number is a step up from 2014’s $2 Billion of revenue, and it is enough to get them to spot 29 on a list of the top 150 brand licensers in the world.

With more than 21.5 billion Pokémon TCG cards shipped globally and more than 800 episodes currently in its animation library, Pokémon is a long-standing market leader and enjoyed an incredibly strong year at retail in 2015.

With the Virtual Console releases, Pokemon GO!, and Pokemon Sun/Moon all releasing this year, it should be interesting to see whether 2016 can top 2015’s record breaking success.
