Amazon ran its pseudo-sale-holiday last week, Prime Day, for members of its premium Amazon Prime service. This sale brought down the prices of many popular items to very tempting levels, encouraging buyers to stock their virtual carts. But despite all the discounts, there are always a few standout items that garner more attention than others. This year, the list of most sought-after items was topped by none other than the Nintendo Switch. Hitwise put together various lists showing the top 10 most-searched items during Prime Day in several different regions, including the USA, UK, and Australia.
Nintendo/Amazon didn’t actually drop the price of the hybrid console by any significant amount (especially with the recent announcement of the Nintendo Switch Lite). Even so, that didn’t stop people from flocking to Amazon’s storefront in hopes of scoring one with some savings. There’s no telling if and when Nintendo will officially run a sale on the flagship Switch, but considering the console is nearly 2.5 years old and it hasn’t really happened yet, don’t get your hopes up for it to happen anytime too soon.
Hold your horses
If you’re interested in buying a Switch, then you’re probably better off waiting just a few more weeks as a brand-new model is coming out. No, not the Switch Lite, but actually a revised version of the original Switch which will have significantly better battery life. It hits store shelves in August.
