2020 will go down in history as the year of the Great COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Now more than ever in modern times, people are more health-conscious than ever, and far more cautious of the invisible world of bacteria and viruses that surround us any and everywhere. If you use your Switch a lot, then you no doubt want to keep it as clean and germ-free as possible. While the first thought might be to wipe it down periodically with a mild helping of hand sanitizer, there is an alternative. The zany manufacturer of CyberGadget has once again stepped up to the plate to provide yet another Switch accessory, and this one is clearly a response to the current global scene—it’s an “antibacterial LCD Protective Film”.
Functioning similar to that of a screen protector, the CyberGadget film claims to be effective against 99.9% of viruses and bacteria (and also prevents scratches). We all carry germs, and seeing that you handle the Switch with your hands, this film is supposed to repel the germs even in the event you’re not wiping the unit off with disinfectant. CyberGadget wants to make sure ever Switch gamer is protected, so it has created these films for both the Switch and Switch Lite.
It doesn’t look like CyberGadget just did this for fun, as it went through the trouble of making sure it was certified by the SIAA for the films effectiveness against germs. So, for all intents and purposes, this does seem to do what it claims to do. But, still, is it worth buying?
While CyberGadget makes a lot of Switch accessories which are typically novelties rather than fully practical items. This one falls somewhere in the middle. If you’re super amped about the idea of keeping your Switch as germ-free as possible at any given time, it might be a worthy pickup. But, you should also be fine simply wiping down your system with a mild disinfectant after every use.
The LCD Protective Film is on sale now in Japan.
