The Way of Wrath announcement trailer Nintendo Switch PC 2022 release date Animmal Hooded Horse

Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Animmal have announced “early Bronze Age” RPG The Way of Wrath for Nintendo Switch and PC, arriving in 2022. The premise is that your people have just suffered a crippling defeat overseas and returned home, but the war isn’t over yet — an invasion is coming. You have 10 days to rebuild your fort, unify your people, and make various preparations like securing resource sites and sabotaging enemy camps. At the end, you “experience a climatic siege finale where all (your) efforts and choices are put to the test.” That’s a cool idea for a game, really.

The Way of Wrath will offer Switch and PC players full character customization, including “playable origins, a survival system involving hunting for supplies and establishing resource camps around the map, and a deep diplomacy system where tribes can be allied with or waged war against.” NPCs also have established routines and relationships that develop dynamically according to how players affect the game world, so you can probably imagine it as a much more interactive version of the NPCs in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. You can get a hint of the strategy in the announcement trailer for The Way of Wrath.

“We have put our hearts and souls into this project,” said Animmal CEO Dato Kiknavelidze. “We’re very excited about this partnership as Hooded Horse has a very unique and developer-friendly approach. They are RPG and strategy gamers at heart, and we instantly clicked with their team.”

Stay tuned for more updates on The Way of Wrath next year if you could use a different type of role-playing survival experience on Nintendo Switch. In the meantime, you have plenty of other RPG and survival options on Switch.
