this witcher 3 screenshot is not from switch

When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition was announced for Nintendo Switch, many fans were a little worried about how the game would hold up on a weaker console. In a recent interview with VGC, UI Coordinator Alvin Liu reassured everybody by saying the most notable changes in the Witcher port revolve around the user interface and controls.

Liu says that CD Projekt Red is “not really cutting anything” from the Switch version, which is fantastic to hear. Obviously, the game is set to come out with all of the DLC intact. He went on to say the biggest changes the development team made were around the user interface and “how you interact.”

Regarding the graphical performance on the Switch, Liu seemed confident that players wouldn’t notice the difference:

We’re really happy with how Witcher 3 is playing on Switch. It’s still at a quality that we’re proud of, but we also understand that there were hardware trade-offs that we had to do, in terms of performance versus graphics. Right now there’s a bit less foliage and some [draw distances] are lower… but it still looks amazing. I was very impressed. Unless you pointed a lot of changes out to me I probably wouldn’t have noticed them.

We previously learned the game will play in 540p in handheld mode and 720p docked. Obviously some things had to be scaled back for this port to work. Thankfully, it sounds like The Witcher 3 was optimized well on the Nintendo Switch.

What do you guys think? Will you be picking up The Witcher 3 on the Switch? Will this be your first time playing it? Let us know down in the comments!

I love all kinds of video games. I personally find the most enjoyment in JRPGs, Visual Novels, and pretty much anything Nintendo makes. I'm always open to discovering new types of games, so I'll be happy to check out anything someone suggests.
