After months of teases, including yesterday’s trailer for a trailer (sigh), Netflix has finally revealed that The Witcher will hit Netflix on Dec. 20. The new trailer shows more of known stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerburg, and Freya Allan as Ciri, in addition to a wealth of new material.
The trailer begins by telling new viewers precisely what a witcher is — “a mutant created by magic” who hunts monsters for a price. Accompanying that explanation are approximately 400 scenes of Cavill’s Geralt slicing and dicing about half the population of the continent. But for good measure, the trailer also shows off the character’s promised tub scene. From there, it’s reestablished that Ciri must find Geralt and that he must protect her, but he is reluctant to take up the responsibility for some reason.
Ultimately, the only thing missing from this The Witcher trailer is a good look at a disgusting monster.
Does this The Witcher trailer float your boat? I don’t typically watch fantasy, including Game of Thrones, so I don’t really have a frame of reference for this. But I did really love The Witcher 2 and 3, so I will be sure to check out Netflix’s latest and greatest come Christmastime. Will you? Let us know!
