Undoubtedly, one of my most anticipated games this quarter is Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. An update of one of my favorite Wii U games, it appears as though the game will include a nod to one of my other favorite RPGs, Persona 5, in the form of a Joker costume for protagonist Itsuki Aoi. This information comes via Twitter user theprinceofiris, who spotted an image of the costume on the back of the Japanese box on Amazon Japan.
Joker from Persona 5 appears to be Itsuki's new collab costume in TMS ?FE Encore, according to a new screenshot on the back of the Japanese box as it appears on Amazon JP https://t.co/I8xvVtbbh8 pic.twitter.com/OqoUN35jdc

Though at first glance this costume seems out of place since Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a crossover between Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, if you know your Persona history, it actually makes sense. The Persona franchise, though it’s arguably more well-known than Shin Megami Tensei nowadays, is actually a spin-off of the latter series.
The timing of this reference couldn’t be better, either, as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers is set to launch in Japan on February 20. Joker has also been featured in other games in the Nintendo lineup, such as Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth for Nintendo 3DS and more recently as the first paid DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Joker’s trenchcoat isn’t the only collaboration costume to make its way into Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Shortly after the game’s reveal last September, we learned the the Officer’s Academy uniform from Fire Emblem: Three Houses would also be featured.
If you’re interested in learning more about what you can expect from Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, Atlus just released a new battle trailer earlier today. If you’re a fan of RPGs, I highly recommend checking this one out.
