Torchlight III from Perfect World Entertainment and Echtra Games is coming to Nintendo Switch this fall, as revealed at the Indie World Showcase today. Those who play on Switch will receive an exclusive Red Fairy pet.

This is a game with a rather unique history, as it actually began life as Torchlight Frontiers, a free-to-play MMORPG that garnered some interest but evidently not as much as the developer and publisher wanted. Thus, the game was ultimately rechristened Torchlight III back in January 2020 and became a more traditional action RPG follow-up to the well-received Torchlight II. This game takes place a century after the previous game, and it features all the previous staples of the series, including “satisfying hack-and-slash combat, epic loot drops and, of course, the beloved pet system that captured the hearts of ARPG fans.”

Curiously, Torchlight III also boasts fully customizable fonts, which isn’t a thing I’d given much thought to before, but sure — I’ll take it. The vision-impaired will most definitely appreciate it at any rate.

Torchlight III has been in development for a good while now between its new incarnation and the previous MMO rendition, and it’s been seemingly collecting positive feedback overall from those who have played it. Hopefully that experience will feel just as good or even better on Switch this fall. Stay tuned for more from Perfect World Entertainment and Echtra Games.
