Torchlight III release date Nintendo Switch Echtra Games Perfect World Entertainment action RPG dungeon-crawling dungeon crawler

Torchlight III, the latest entry in the beloved action RPG dungeon-crawling franchise, launches today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for $39.99, but the real news is that we now know the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. Developer Echtra Games and publisher Perfect World Entertainment will launch Torchlight III on Switch on Oct. 22, not far away at all. A new launch trailer shows you what you can expect from the game.

While Echtra Games may sound like a new developer for the franchise, it’s actually still a lot of the people who made the other titles, so you can expect a faithful, quality experience. It has familiar hack-and-slash combat and a pet system, and you can build and upgrade a fort. To spice up gameplay, you select a “relic” at the start of the game that grants additional active and passive skills that can be unlocked and developed over time. This, in addition to four character classes to choose from, ensures a good amount of replayability and gameplay variety. Lastly, Torchlight III includes a “multi-tiered ‘Contracts’ progression system that lets players earn Fame and unlock elite items, along with a myriad of quests and boss battles.”

Each platform for Torchlight III has its own exclusive pet, and Nintendo Switch’s exclusive pet is the Ashen Glittersprite. Otherwise, it seems players should be getting an identical gameplay experience regardless of platform. Basically, unless something went horribly wrong while nobody was looking, Echtra Games and Perfect World Entertainment should be serving up more of the stuff that fans of this franchise really crave.

Will you be picking up Torchlight III on Nintendo Switch come the Oct. 22 release date?
