Switch Retail Boxes

The “new” Nintendo Switch has just recently started making its way out into the wild across retailers. This revised model features improvements mainly to its battery life, which allows for sometimes double the amount of playtime over the original unit.

If you play your Switch mainly in portable mode and want to take advantage of the improvements but don’t want to drop $300 on an all-new Switch, GameStop should be able to help you out.

Cha-ching for Switch owners

GameStop’s console trade-in program is now offering $225 for used Switch units that include everything in the box (as in, every piece). This offer is actually a combination of the base trade-in price, along with a limited-time extra $25 trade credit that will be valid from August 12, 2019, to September 15, 2019. Altogether, that will give you enough credit towards the purchase of an improved Switch, (or Switch 2.0 as GameStop refers to it internally), for just $75. That’s just slightly more than the average AAA game.

This deal was pointed out by Twitter user @BalrogGameRoom who shared a picture of his new Switch. He also mentioned that system transfers “should” be accessible in-store.

So, if you live in the States, call up your local GameStop and see what they can do for you. I’m currently visiting the USA and am strongly considering this, myself…
