Bloodstained launch trailer Igarashi

Way back in 2015, famed developer Koji Igarashi took to Kickstarter to chase a dream. Konami had lost interested in the Castlevania franchise, but Iga wasn’t ready to let it die. Promising a spiritual successor, he raised over $5 million from eager fans. Four years later, that dream has finally become a reality! Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Unfortunately, Switch owners have to wait just a little bit longer. According to publisher 505 Games, the Switch version needed a little extra time for polish. Switch hardware is a bit different from the other platforms, but most developers still find it pretty user-friendly. Hopefully, the Switch version runs nice and smooth both at home and on the go. You can look forward to it on June 25. While you wait to play, you can check out the official launch trailer. It features an introduction form Igarashi himself before showing off plenty of gameplay.

But wait, there’s more

As Igarashi states in the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launch trailer, there’s a lot more coming than just the base game. The development team is working on 13 different free DLC updates. The launch trailer highlighted the following bits of free content:

  • Classic Mode
  • New Game +
  • Boss Rush Mode
  • Roguelike Dungeon
  • Speed Run Mode
  • Three Characters
  • Co-Op
  • Versus Mode
  • Online Play
  • Nightmare Difficulty

Additionally, 505 Games recently announced a paid DLC update. The “Iga’s Back Pack” lets players take on Koji Igarashi, the creator of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night himself. Do you have what it takes to take on the master of the castle? The Iga’s Back Pack costs $9.99 and is available after buying the base game.
