Trials of Mana

To celebrate the upcoming Trials of Mana remake. Square Enix plans to give away themed consoles reflecting the game’s design. The limited-edition designs are very appealing, especially that of the Switch, which pulls out no stops with its special dock, Switch system, Joy-Con holder, and Joy-Con. The game’s official Twitter account revealed the alluring consoles earlier today.

Square Enix has not shared any details on how we can get our hands on these snazzy Trials of Mana systems, but they’ll presumably share instructions a little closer to the game’s April 24 release date.

Trials of Mana looks great on Switch. As a remake of the third title in the Mana series, it has a lot of work to do, but so far, it seems set to deliver. The original title was not available in the West until last year’s Collection of Mana, and many found that the game was far from amazing. Our own Dominick Ashtear, for example, wasn’t a huge fan of the initial release. He got to try out Trials of Mana at PAX, though, and he found the remake to be on the right track toward fixing some of its issues.

To be honest, I didn’t like the SNES / Super Famicom original . . . I found the battle mechanics to be too constricting, the story to be slow and plodding, the bosses to be damage sponges, and the load times (load times! In a Super Nintendo game!) to be excessive. However, I adored the time we spent with this version of the game.

Are you excited about Trials of Mana? Have you tried out its demo on the eShop? Are you liking the design for the limited edition Switch? Let us know in the comments.
