Tribute Games is an independent developer making 8 and 16 bit pixel art style games.  Their work is heavily centered on classic game design, and the team was also behind Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game.  Their most recent project Mercenary Kings, revealed in 2012 and successfully funded through Kickstarter, is a 2D action game that combines finely tuned shoot \’em up mechanics with a unique weapon crafting system and boasts online cooperative and competitive play.  The game has been confirmed for PC, with Linux, Mac, and Ouya versions planned post launch.

Tribute Games has not revealed any official plans to date to bring the game to the Wii U eShop, but according to Emily Rogers, who first put them in contact with Nintendo, it has not been ruled out as a possibility.
