Trine 4

Trine 4 is the next addition to the hit indie puzzle-platformer series, and it looks absolutely fabulous. Now we also know just when we will be able to get our hands on it. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is releasing on Oct 8 for all major platforms. The Trine series is developed and published by Frozenbyte.

Trine 4 will continue the story of the three characters – thief, wizard, and knight – as they fight monsters, solve puzzles, and roll on top of pumpkins. The new game features full four-player co-op, an interesting choice for a game with three playable characters. As someone who had only played the original Trine back in 2009, this game looks like a perfect place to get back into the franchise.

Speaking of getting back into the franchise, the trailer also gives a date for the Trine Ultimate Collection, which contains all four games in the series. Trine Ultimate Collection releases the same day as Trine 4, Oct 8. That date is also the release date of a certain other high-profile hybrid-platformer. We’ll just have to wait and see how both of them fare with this shared launch window.

Check out some of the E3 impressions of Trine 4 here. If you can’t wait for the Trine Ultimate Collection, the first three games are available right now on the Switch, and even on the Wii U.
