Truck Driver has been on the Switch for the past few months. The developers over at Soedesco have released patches for it to improve a few key aspects of the game, but now it’s getting a fresh delivery of new content. This comes in the form of the Hidden Places and Damage System DLC pack.
As the name suggests, this new DLC will give players a bit of a challenge in terms of both exploration and careful driving. With this new content pack, players will have the side task of locating three hidden places somewhere in the map, but are not displayed on the GPS.
You’ll also find yourself playing a little game of eye-spy, as new AI traffic vehicles have been added to keep on the lookout for: a minibus, box truck, pick-up truck, and classic muscle car.
Back to driving school
While you’re on the hunt for new sights to see, you have to be mindful of not allowing your truck to take on any damage. While a damage system was already included in Truck Driver, this new DLC ups the stakes with the inclusion of actual 3D damage being visible on both your truck as well as other vehicles. This will come in the form of dents and scratches. It doesn’t seem like this will add any more catastrophic effects that hamper the driving experience if you collide with an object, but considering that maintenance already did and will continue to cost money, crashing just for funsies is more of an expense than a thrill.
One tiny little tidbit of info from this content pack is that it also updates the character art for the different cilentel that you take jobs from. A small enhancement, but cool nonetheless.
Here’s hoping even more content is being planned for the sim, as it continues to be one of the few of its kind on consoles. Not to mention, the Switch version, though it took a while, has been well done.
The new Hidden Places and Damage System DLC pack for Truck Driver on Switch is available to download right now via the eShop.
