The new season of the Pokémon anime recently kicked off, but that won’t be the only show set in Galar. The Pokémon Company announced today that another series titled Twilight Wings is on the way. This will be a seven-part animated Pokémon web series that tells a new story in Galar, separate from the main anime. You can look for it on YouTube early next year, free of charge. Here’s a short summary of what you can expect:
Pokémon: Twilight Wings, which is separate from Pokémon the Series, is set in the Galar region, where Pokémon battles have developed into a cultural sensation. Over the span of seven episodes, Pokémon: Twilight Wings will show in detail the dreams of Galar’s residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome, and the conflicts they must resolve. In addition to these new stories, fans can expect to see a variety of Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region appearing throughout the capsule series.
It’s not clear if Twilight Wings will follow a main character, or shift its focus from episode to episode, anthology style. Either way, it’s described as a “vibrant new way” to experience the Galar region of Pokémon Sword and Shield. This new Pokémon series is animated by Studio Colorido (Penguin Highway), known for its “warm and welcoming visual designs and dynamic photographic techniques.” Episodes will be around 5 minutes long, and the first one will be uploaded to YouTube on January 15.
