To the surprise of literally everyone, a brand-new game for the Nintendo Wii was announced last week during E3: Just Dance 2020. For quite a few years now, it’s been surprising that the Just Dance series has been regularly supported on the now very much ancient console. After all, the Wii has been superseded twice at this point, with the Wii U releasing in 2012 and the Switch in 2017. Yet, Just Dance has been continuously releasing every single year on the little system, all while dropping support for the PS3, 360 and Wii U.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Ubisoft’s Alain Corre (the EMEA executive director) mentioned that the company is “happy” to be providing the last game series on the Wii.
“I think we are the last soldier standing! We are the last game on the Wii and we are happy about that as there still a lot of fans wanting to play on it.”
It doesn’t appear that Corre is saying that Just Dance 2020 is going to be the final game ever for the Wii. Though, if it really isn’t, next year is still going to be pretty shocking if a Wii logo appears during the reveal of Just Dance 2021. If that happens, that means the Wii would still be supported after a whopping 15 years since its release. Just let that thought settle for a moment.
Just Dance 2020 will release on Wii, Switch, and other platforms on November 5, 2019.
