Victory Heat Rally

Playtonic Friends has revealed the next game in its publishing catalog: Victory Heat Rally, a love letter to high speed, ultra-pixelated retro racing titles such as OutrunSpace Harrier, and others. Like its retro ancestors, Victory Heat Rally will utilize a set of careful visual tricks so that players perceive gameplay as if they are moving toward the screen. You can see the game in action in the trailer below, courtesy of the official Playtonic YouTube channel.

What do you think? The game appears to nail the visual style and sense of speed inherent in OutRun and other games of that ilk. It will be wonderful to have this style of racing title back on modern systems.

Aside from showing off some high-octane racing, the trailer confirms Victory Heat Rally will launch on Switch and PC, and provides a 2022 release date target. There is still a lot to learn about the game, its content, and how well it will actually play, but so far, I am definitely intrigued.

Are you interested in playing Victory Heat Rally? Have you missed this style of racing game? How do you think it looks compared to similarly-styled retro classics like Outrun? Let us know in the comment section below.
