Vitamin Connection has received its first trailer from developer and publisher WayForward. The game, previously announced back in August, stars Vita-Boy and Mina-Girl, who use a tiny Capsule Ship (aka a pill) to travel inside the Sable family’s bodies to fight bacteria and make them well again. The game may be played solo or in two-player co-op, and it is promising “a variety of hazardous and increasingly wacky predicaments!” It will receive a special physical edition through Limited Run Games with preorders opening on Jan. 17. Vitamin Connection will release digitally on the Nintendo Switch eShop on Feb. 20.

WayForward is promising “wacky and wild sub-games,” suggesting there will be a good amount of abstract mini-games to enjoy yourself or with a friend. What the core gameplay loop of Vitamin Connection actually is still feels a bit uncertain. At a glance, it seems the game is a shoot ’em up inside the human (and sometimes dog?) body, with perhaps even flashes of Ikaruga since the color of the Capsule Ship that touches obstacles seems to make a difference.
The one thing that is absolutely certain about Vitamin Connection is that it is really cute and aiming to be a fun family gaming experience. And it all still reminds me of that episode of The Magic School Bus where the bus shrinks down to explore Arnold’s digestive system.
