Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars announced by Square Enix and Yoko Taro Island Dragon's

Square Enix has announced Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars with NieR and Drakengard creator Yoko Taro as its creative director. We know little about the game, like platform, release date, or pricing, but we know it’s a card-based RPG and it has received a new teaser trailer.

The Japanese title is Voice of Cards: Dragon no Shima, which translates to Dragon’s Island. In addition to the aforementioned Yoko Taro as creative director, it will feature his longtime buddy and coworker Yosuke Saito as the executive producer. Furthermore, it will feature music by Keiichi Okabe, best known for his music in the NieR and Drakengard series. It will also have character designs by Kimihiko Fujisaka of Mistwalker, who worked as a character designer for all three Drakengard games.

Square Enix hasn’t shared any other details, but Yoko Taro made a few clarifications about the Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars announcement on Twitter. Here’s what he said:

“A teaser for the title that Saito-san announced in a sketchbook has been released (but there’s no information about it). In order to avoid any misunderstandings:

  • It is not part of the Drakengard series.
  • It is not a social game.

Or something like that.”

It’s worth mentioning that the official website is all in Japanese, but the very bottom of it says “NOT a Social Network Game” in English, which tells us they really don’t want people thinking it will be some browser game. It also reiterates that Yoko Taro’s Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars will indeed release in English.

Again, there’s still a chance for it to be a mobile game, just not a “social game,” like SINoALICE. In any case, it shouldn’t be long until we get a full reveal from Square Enix. Keep in mind that TGS 2021 Online is right around the corner, so we might get it there. For now, you can check out the teaser trailer below:
