Warui Ousama to Rippa na Yuusha is the latest from Nippon Ichi Software’s series of storybook-style games following The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. We got a look at its cute story, RPG battles, and game cycle in a new storybook-style trailer.
The title Warui Ousama to Rippa na Yuusha translates to “Evil King and the Honorable Hero,” and it’s about a dragon who was once the king of all monsters and now takes care of a little girl named Yuu. She’s the daughter of a noble hero who defeated the King Dragon and saved the world. If you’re curious about how it all went down, read more the story in our two previous articles.
In the trailer, we’re introduced to a few of Yuu’s friends. Konko is a snow fox who helps out his buddies by finding items while exploring. Sakasa is a monster with ranged attacks that can be used to hit floating treasures and other items that are out of reach. Flora is a princess from a human kingdom with the ability to hover with her parasol à la Princess Peach.
NIS hasn’t shared much about the battle system for Warui Ousama to Rippa na Yuusha, but based on the trailer, it looks like a simple turn-based system, reminiscent of the Paper Mario games. There are also cute moments in battle where the King Dragon helps out Yuu while remaining hidden in the background. After a day of exploration and battles, Yuu returns to the dragon’s nest, where the King Dragon tells more tales about her father’s adventures as a bedtime story.
