A new video showing five minutes of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition story has surfaced. Aside from the new trailer we received in the recent Nintendo Direct Mini, we’ve not seen much new gameplay from the upcoming remaster. This video should help with that a bit, though. It has Japanese audio, but it still shows off the same fantastic visuals we can expect when the game launches on May 29.
In this new video showing Xenoblade story scenes, we can see the remastered version of the game’s opening – the legendary battle between the Bionis and the Mechonis. Following this are various cutscenes of Shulk fighting against smaller enemies, plus a look at the first major boss, Metal Face. Players actually need to battle Metal Face twice in this first encounter before they’re left alone to recoup and recover.
The new visuals, which look very similar to those in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, are gorgeous. You can really tell that the developers have been through every part of the game and boosted the visuals wherever possible. It might not look quite as good as some games on the Switch, but given the scale of the world and its story, we’re probably lucky to even have it looking this good.
We’ll get our review for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition up as soon as possible. In the meantime, make sure you pre-order your Collector’s Set from the UK Nintendo Store before they’re gone. If you miss it, you can also keep an eye out for pre-orders to open for the Definitive Works Set – though this one does lack some of the best bits of the Collector’s Set.
