rwby arrowfell canon Metroidvania

Last September, Rooster Teeth Productions teased a new RWBY game from WayForward and ArcSystemWorks. Details have been scarce since then, but that changed today! During the RWBY panel at RTX at Home 2021, Rooster Teeth officially unveiled RWBY: Arrowfell. The upcoming game is a Metroidvania-style action-platformer set during the time skip in Volume 7. Introducing RWBY: Arrowfell

A canon Metroidvania adventure

During the panel, writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas revealed tons of new details about RWBY: Arrowfell during the panel. It’s 100% canon, and they intentionally left a time-skip in Volume 7 with this upcoming game in mind. The game is a Metroidvania with a sprawling world and item-based progression, and Luna described it as “like Shantae with RWBY.”

Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are all playable. RWBY: Arrowverse features single-player as well as both local and online co-op. It also features cutscenes that closely mirror scenes from the show, with RT Animation helping. It’s set on the continent of Solitas, and we’ll see the cities of Mantle and Atlas as well as other areas we haven’t yet seen in the show. It will also feature a mixture of familiar faces and newcomers, including some new villains who were briefly teased.

Rooster Teeth and WayForward will launch RWBY: Arrowfell sometime in 2022. They previously teased that it would come to “PC and consoles,” but the exact platforms have not yet been specified. Rooster Teeth also clarified that ArcSystemWorks will be publishing the game in Asia, while WayForward handles development and publishing in other regions.
