Video games have come a long way. Today’s games feature gorgeous, HD graphics that are constantly edging closer to photorealism. But it wasn’t that long ago that even simple 3D games were revolutionary. If you grew up in the ’90s, you remember the excitement of Nintendo 64. Seeing beloved Nintendo franchises like Mario and Zelda brought to life in 3D for the first time was a fantastic experience. With so many classics to choose from, what’s the best Nintendo 64 game?
Honestly, there’s no way I could pick just one. As a huge Zelda fan, Ocarina of Time was incredibly impactful. I think it’s fair to say it’s the definitive Zelda experience. Meanwhile, Majora’s Mask offered a fresh new take on the series, and it was equally impressive. Super Mario 64 pioneered the 3D platformer, and Banjo-Kazooie arguably perfected it. Super Smash Bros. was a crossover extravaganza like nothing I had ever seen! And let’s not forget about the unbeatable charm of Paper Mario.
Nintendo 64 was a console that defined my childhood. It was a young gamer’s dream come true, and then some. So I can’t pick just one game from its wonderful library. How about you? Share your favorite(s) in the comments below!
