Paper Mario: The Origami King

Nintendo revealed Paper Mario: The Origami King today with just two months to go until its release. We don’t have long to wait before we can experience it for ourselves, but in the meantime, fans of the series will no doubt run themselves up a wall with hopes and dreams for the game. So, what does Paper Mario: The Origami King have to do to get you on board?

I have what will no doubt be a common answer. I want it to share a lot of RPG elements in common with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The series went down a strange, more action-oriented path in Super Paper Mario and beyond. I just want to see partners play a major role and turn-based battles that aren’t weighed down by gimmicks. The screenshots we have are already dripping with the trademark series charm, so I’m not at all worried on that front.

There’s some hope that those like me hoping for a traditional Paper Mario experience. When former leaker Sabi first broke the Paper Mario Switch news in January, they said that the game would go back to series roots. We’ll know the extent soon enough.

What features are on your wishlist for Paper Mario: The Origami King? Do you want something in line with The Thousand-Year Door, or did you have something else in mind? Sound off in the comments!
