Soundtrack Ask the Audience

There are many factors that go into making a great video game. Beautiful graphics, responsive controls, and engrossing storyline are all things that can draw players in. But there’s nothing quite like an outstanding video game soundtrack to take a game to the next level. The right tunes can help immerse you in a game world and keep you focused on the action, or set the mood for an emotional scene. With so many great options to choose from, what’s your all-time favorite video game soundtrack?

That’s a tough one for me to answer! Metroid and Zelda are two of my favorite franchises, and music plays a big role in both. But my favorite individual games come from smaller teams. Indie sensations Axiom Verge and Celeste top my list! Both games know the right tone to strike in each section. Whether it’s fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping action or soft, somber tones, the music always fits the occasion perfectly. As a bonus, both are great to listen to in the background while I write! What soundtracks top your list? Sound off in the comments below!
