The final part of a Gigantamax Wild Area Event recently began in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth have appeared during it at various times according to certain circumstances. It used to be Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee in particular were limited to only those players with a save file for either Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee. During this special event, each of the three has been appearing across the Galar region in Max Raid Battles. While no reason has been given, the time for Gigantamax Meowth’s event has been extended by 13 hours. This was noted by Serebii.net.

Now the event is running from May 25 at 5 p.m. PT until June 2 at 5:59 p.m. PT. We may well get a reason further down the line, such as needing to stretch things out a bit while working from home due to COVID-19. This has been an issue for some other developers regarding both in-game events and game updates, so it’s plausible that it’s the issue here.
Regardless of the reason, now is the time to get out there and take advantage of this Pokémon Sword and Shield Wild Area Event. There’s not long left to find yourself a shiny Gigantamax Meowth and capture it. Given how often these events come around, it could be one of the rarest Gigantamax Pokémon around.
