Gamecube controller - adapater - Nintendo Switch - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Are you skipping out on the nostalgic Gamecube experience with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate simply because you can’t play with a wireless Gamecube controller on your Nintendo Switch? If so, you’re in luck. 8bitdo is bringing a wireless adapter that enables players to cut the cord and go wireless with the throwback Gamecube controller. Okay, don’t actually cut your cord. That piece is still crucial.

So, here’s how it works. Instead of plugging the controller into the Switch, simply plug it into the adapter. That’s it. The nifty device will be able to wirelessly connect with your Switch and even contains home and screenshot buttons. The adapter is also themed after the classic controller which adds to the appeal. This actually works with any Gamecube or classic edition controllers. So, yes, you can dust off your actual old-school Gamecube controllers and put them to use once again.

So, where can you snag one of these? Amazon has the adapter listed for pre-order priced at $19.99. Prime shipping is available, and it launches the same day as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Dec. 7. 8Bitdo played into the right crowd as these will surely be popular with Smash Bros. purists set to rumble with a Gamecube-style controller.

What do you think of this adapter and it’s clever Gamecube design? Are you going to pick one up? Or two? Or three? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
